Stewart Jacobs was born in 1958 and raised in North Vancouver, BC into the Squamish Nation, where he resides and creates his pottery today. He first started to carve wood with Coast Salish artist Fred Baker and learned from other old masters, until he discovered his love of pottery when he was in high school. In 1986, Stewart formed Free Spirit Pottery and has since concentrated on ceramic art. Stewart has become well known for his use of vibrant colours and unique designs. His work has been involved in many art shows and is sold in galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest coast.
