Mother Bear and Cub
The Mother Bear and Cub symbolize family and nurturing, reflecting the teachings I received from my Mother and Grandmother. Bears represent the wisdom of our elders, showing us essential skills like hunting, fishing, and gathering berries. They embody the protectors and knowledge keepers who lead our communities. This imagery honours the bonds of family and the importance of passing down wisdom.
Seabird Island, part of the Sto:lo Nation, and the Nlaka'pamux Nation are Indigenous communities located in British Columbia, Canada, each with a rich history connected to the land. The Sto:lo people have lived in the Fraser Valley for thousands of years. The Nlaka'pamux, known as the Thompson River people, maintain a strong relationship with the environment through traditional practices centered on fishing and gathering.
