Raven Butterfly
The design combines two powerful symbols. The Raven, known as the "keeper of secrets," is a long-distance healer who guides us to truth and health by revealing hidden dangers. The Butterfly represents transformation, beauty, balance, and grace. In many of the Pacific Northwest Coast Nations, the Butterfly is often the Raven's companion, scout, and spokesperson, embodying their connection and shared wisdom.
The Ts'msyen people, a matrilineal society from the Northwest Coast of Canada and Alaska, are known for their totem pole carvings and ceremonial feasts. Their deep connection to the land is central to their identity. They maintained winter villages near Prince Rupert Harbour and returned to summer villages along the Skeena River for the salmon season. They have lived in the Prince Rupert region for over 5,000 years and continue to do so today.
