Eagle Heart
The Eagle has a sacred significance in many Indigenous cultures. As the one who flies closest to the Creator, the Eagle symbolizes respect, honour, strength, courage, and wisdom. The Heart represents the deep connection to these values, embodying love and the spirit of resilience.
The Ts'msyen people, a matrilineal society from the Northwest Coast of Canada and Alaska, are known for their totem pole carvings and ceremonial feasts. Their deep connection to the land is central to their identity. They maintained winter villages near Prince Rupert Harbour and returned to summer villages along the Skeena River for the salmon season. They have lived in the Prince Rupert region for over 5,000 years and continue to do so today.
