Cultural Background: Gwich’in, Aklavik, NT

Ronnie is a self-taught wildlife artist who started painting at a young age. Growing up in Fort McPherson, NT Ronnie’s inspiration comes from the land. His passion for wildlife and nature really prevails in his work.
For Ronnie the portrayal of wildlife and birds in their natural habitat is his preference. Using acrylic paints as his medium, he portrays the natural beauty and serenity of nature in his work.
His work is currently on display at the Bear Claw Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta where Ronnie was a featured artist at the 2016 Holiday Art Show. His art was also shown at the 50th Street Gallery, Edmonton, The Great Northern Arts Festival’s summer and winter shows. His work was selected for the Capital Suites Hotel in Inuvik, NT where it is featured in the lobby and mail staircase, and has been a featured artist at the Café Gallery in Inuvik, NT. Ronnie’s latest project was with the Government of Canada where his work is being displayed on a 30’ satellite dish in Inuvik, NT.

Ronnie est artiste animalier autodidacte qui a commencé à peindre à un très jeune âge. Ayant grandi au Fort McPherson, son inspiration lui vient de la terre. Sa passion pour la faune et la nature prédomine réellement son travail.
Pour Ronnie, le portrait de la faune et des oiseaux dans leur habitat naturel sont sa préférence. Faisant usage de peinture d’acrylique comme médium, il dépeint la beauté naturelle et la sérénité de la nature dans ses œuvres.
Son travail est actuellement exposé à la Bear Claw Gallery à Edmonton, en Alberta où il était un artiste vedette au Holiday Art Show en 2016. Son art a également été présenté au 50th Street Gallery, à Edmonton, dans le cadre des spectacles d’été et d’été du Great Northern Arts Festival. Son travail a été sélectionné pour l'hôtel Capital Suites à Inuvik dans les territoires du Nord-Ouest où il a été exposé dans le hall d’entrée et dans la monte d’escalier et il a également été artiste à l’affiche au Café Gallery à Inuvik dans les territoires du Nord-Ouest. Le dernier projet de Ronnie a été réalisé en collaboration avec le gouvernement du Canada, où son travail est exposé sur une antenne parabolique de 30 pi à Inuvik, dans les territoires du Nord-Ouest.
