This piece of Indigenous jewellery has been laser-engraved. The craft of laser-engraved silver jewellery involves a sophisticated process that allows highly skilled artisans to bring designs to life with precision, durability, and intricacy. Every step—from the initial sketch, laser programming and engraving, to the cleaning and polishing of each piece—is meticulous and hands-on.

Chris Sparrow is a Coast Salish artist from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). A master carver, he is also highly skilled in jewelry, stone sculpture, and painting. Chris began his artistic journey at age 9 under the mentorship of his late father, master carver Irving Sparrow, and continues to honor his father’s teachings in every creation.

He has completed numerous projects through the Vancouver School Board, including an 18-foot house post at the Vancouver School Board head office, and commissioned works for schools across the Lower Mainland, such as Magee Secondary, David Thompson Secondary, Walter Moberly Elementary, and Prince of Wales Secondary. Chris is passionate about sharing art and cultural teachings with youth, knowing the positive impact it can have on their lives.
