EAGLE: friendship, peace, power, loyalty, grace
This sterling silver pendant by Gitxsan artist Art Sterritt (Myanxa) honors the Eagle, a symbol of friendship, peace, power, loyalty, and grace. Measuring 51mm high × 46mm wide, it features a laser-engraved design that combines traditional Indigenous artistry with modern precision.
The craft of laser-engraved silver jewellery is meticulous and hands-on at every stage—from the initial sketch, to laser programming and engraving, and finally the careful cleaning and polishing of each piece—ensuring both durability and intricate detail.
Art Sterritt trained as a carver and printmaker at 'Ksan, near the former village of Gitanmaax, under renowned Gitxsan artists Walter Harris and Earl Muldoe. He continues to create ceremonial headdresses and totem poles for the Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en peoples from his home in Prince Rupert, BC.
Made in BC, Canada.
