RAVEN: creativity, wisdom, knowledge, honour, cleverness
This sterling silver pendant by Gitxsan artist Art Sterritt (Myanxa) celebrates the Raven, a symbol of creativity, wisdom, knowledge, honour, and cleverness. Measuring 38mm high × 35mm wide, it features a laser-engraved design that captures intricate Indigenous motifs with precision and detail.
The laser-engraving process is both meticulous and hands-on, from the initial sketch to laser programming, engraving, and the careful cleaning and polishing of each piece, resulting in a durable and finely crafted work of art.
Art Sterritt trained as a carver and printmaker at 'Ksan, near the former village of Gitanmaax, under Gitxsan masters Walter Harris and Earl Muldoe. He continues to create ceremonial headdresses and totem poles for the Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en peoples from his studio in Prince Rupert, BC.
Made in BC, Canada.
