WOLF: intelligence, family, loyalty, leadership
This sterling silver pendant by Gitxsan artist Art Sterritt (Myanxa) celebrates the Wolf, a symbol of intelligence, family, loyalty, and leadership. Measuring 45mm high × 38mm wide, the pendant features a laser-engraved design that brings Indigenous artistry to life with remarkable precision and detail.
The laser-engraving process is meticulous and hands-on, encompassing every step from the initial sketch and laser programming to engraving, cleaning, and polishing, resulting in a durable and intricately finished piece.
Art Sterritt trained as a carver and printmaker at 'Ksan, an historic village, museum, and art school near the former village of Gitanmaax, under Gitxsan masters Walter Harris and Earl Muldoe. He continues to create ceremonial headdresses and totem poles for the Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en peoples from his studio in Prince Rupert, BC.
Made in BC, Canada.
